Chief Executive Officer / Principal
An entrepreneur for more than 30 years, Chip created and has served as CEO of several billion-dollar companies in diverse industries ranging from publishing and medical devices to real estate.
As one of the founders of Montecito Medical, Chip serves as President and CEO and is responsible for the company’s vision and extraordinary growth. He plays a central, hands-on role in the company’s success, and under his leadership Montecito has emerged as one of the fastest growing medical-related real estate companies in the United States, amassing a portfolio worth more than $1 billion.
Prior to starting Montecito Medical, Chip was a founder of Montecito Property Company (MPC) and served as its chief executive officer. Under his direction MPC acquired and converted more than 5,500 apartments to condominium-home sales. In a 36-month period, MPC acquired over $2 billion in residential multi-family communities throughout the US, making it the second largest condominium converter in the country.
Chip graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara, nationally recognized
in the industry. He received The Donald Trump Developer & Builder Alliance Visionary Award for Real Estate Development, and was a finalist for Inc. Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Chief Financial Officer/Principal
Paul has served on the board of Montecito Medical since the company’s inception and became Chief Financial Officer in 2011. He possesses 25 years of experience in real estate development, financing, operations and partnership syndications. He is responsible for corporate accounting, project financing, raising and structuring the company’s capital and investor relations.
Prior to starting his own company, Sandler Orr & Associates, Paul was President of CSX Realty, a wholly owned real estate development subsidiary of CSX Corporation, the country’s largest railroad, where he was responsible for the development, sale and management of the company’s considerable real estate holdings and partnerships.
After earning an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Paul spent eight years with the Coopers and Lybrand Boston office as a practicing Certified Public Accountant. His primary focus was on emerging companies to enhance profitability, improve the company’s financial structure and prepare for public offerings. He also held senior financial positions with real estate developers in the Boston area until he was recruited by CSX in 1987 to help lead the company into the real estate development market.
SVP Acquisitions / Principal
As one of Montecito's founding partners, Chris assists in the strategic placement of capital in acquisitions and has been a key part of Montecito’s extraordinary growth. He is responsible for leading and coordinating the company’s acquisitions, which represent 100 deals across the country. He enjoys personally working with sellers and healthcare providers to find innovative solutions to meet their individual vision and goals.
Chris ranks among an elite group of professionals who have been at the pinnacle of both medical office and residential real estate segments. Chris has over a decade of experience with all aspects of the healthcare real estate industry and has negotiated and managed over $1 billion in medical-related real estate acquisitions. His proven results helped to make Montecito one of the nation’s leading medical real estate platforms.
Prior to starting Montecito Medical, Chris was a founding partner in Montecito Property Company, where he was instrumental in the acquisition of more than $2 billion of multi-family residential units in 14 states.
Chris graduated from The University of California at Santa Barbara.
Director Research & Analytics and Marketing / Principal
In addition to assisting with Montecito Medical’s overall business strategy, Joellyn oversees the company’s proprietary MRA and Scout research platforms, which comprise one of the nation’s leading medical real estate-related databases. Her team provides analysis of medical market viability and demographics, clinical saturation and physician specialty gaps, as well as MOB owner and developer information, enabling the company to identify and invest in the best medical markets in the country. She is also responsible for Montecito’s marketing efforts, which have helped the company source nearly 100 medical office buildings across the country.
Prior to joining the firm, Joellyn was a founding partner and served as Director
of Design for Montecito Property Company, where she was instrumental in the
branding and marketing of Montecito’s condominiums, of which more than $2 billion dollars’ worth were sold in 36 months.
Joellyn graduated from Roanoke College.
Senior Vice President / Asset Management
David has more than 40 years of diversified experience in commercial and residential real estate — including management, leasing, development, construction and asset management. Since 2004, he has provided Montecito with asset management oversight for an ever expanding national medical office building portfolio. The company also benefits from David’s broad knowledge of building systems, construction, engineering and tenant issues. David holds a Texas Real Estate Broker’s License and also plays a key role in the due diligence process on both the commercial and residential acquisitions.
Vice President / Acquisitions & Underwriting
Justin is responsible for underwriting, financing, analyzing and due diligence for corporate acquisitions and dispositions. Since joining Montecito in 2013, Justin has been involved in the acquisition of 1.35 million square feet of medical office building assets, exceeding a total value of $350 million dollars.
Prior to joining Montecito Medical, he served as Product Manager – Real Estate for eFront Financial Solutions, a private equity software solutions company dedicated to the Alternative Investment industry. Earlier, he spent six years in an analyst role at PS Business Parks, a publicly traded REIT specializing in office, flex, and industrial real estate. He started his career in the Fund Accounting group of State Street Investment Manager Solutions. Justin earned his MBA with a concentration in Finance from HEC-Paris School of Management in Paris, France.
Vice President Accounting &
Analytics and Investor Reporting
With his strong background in complex financial modeling, analytics and reporting, Harold is uniquely qualified to lead Montecito’s corporate finance team in these important areas.
A lifelong resident of the Nashville area, Harold graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Finance.
VP – Corporate Controller
Doris contributes to Montecito her 25 years of professional accounting experience in Commercial and Residential Property Management. Her diversified experience in accounting includes comprehensive GAAP knowledge, technical accounting, consolidation of subsidiaries, financial budgeting and forecasting, management of system implementation, accounting staff management, merger, acquisition and disposition due diligence and integration of acquired subsidiaries. Prior to joining Montecito Medical, she was the Finance & Portfolio Controller at Grubb & Ellis and Triple Net Properties. She had prior work experience as well, at Insignia, CB Richard Ellis and TOPA Management Company.
Currently, Doris is responsible for the Montecito Corporate and Portfolio Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting based in Corona, CA. She also has extensive interaction with JV Partners and lenders in regard to Lender Compliance Reporting and Quarterly Financial Reviews of the various assets in the Healthcare Portfolio.
Bryan has dedicated 28 years to working with business owners as a trusted advisor in strategic and industry-consolidation M & A. He specializes in creating off-market opportunities and has completed hundreds of company valuations and has successfully represented clients on both buy and sell sides. Bryan has also filled senior operational and leadership roles in fast growth companies, including personal ventures, VC-financed start-ups, international aid projects in Afghanistan, and with the Conks’ first success - their relationship spans over twenty years.
