Montecito acquires cancer center property near Mobile, AL

Montecito Medical, one of the nation’s most active investors in medical office real estate, has acquired an outpatient medical office building that is home to a cancer center in the Mobile suburb of Daphne, Alabama.

The 33,256 SF building is fully occupied by Southern Cancer Center, a prominent specialty provider in the area.

“As we execute on our strategy to expand our medical office investments in the Southeast, we are very pleased to enter into a long-term relationship with the physicians of Southern Cancer  Center and to build on the relationship we have established with the US Oncology Network,” said Rus Gudnyy, Senior Vice President of Investments at Montecito Medical.

Southern Cancer Center is a community-based, multidisciplinary oncology practice serving patients from the Gulf Coast to Northern Alabama. The group maintains five locations. Southern Cancer Center is part of US Oncology, a nationwide, community-based cancer treatment and research network that includes more than 2,400 providers and over 500 treatment center locations.

“This acquisition is a prime example of the type of opportunities we are pursuing with well-positioned physician groups and health systems in growing market areas with attractive fundamentals,” said Chip Conk, CEO of Montecito Medical.
